Ball and Gatehouse Opticians is an independent, family run opticians located in Bebington on the Wirral.

Previously PM and DJ Ball Opticians, Oliver and Nicola Gatehouse bought the practice in 2015 from the previous owner, Peter Ball. Peter remained working at the practice as a locum until his retirement in 2020.

Oliver is the principle optometrist. He qualified in 2003 and subsequently relocated from his home town in County Durham to pursue his career on the Wirral.

Nicola qualified as a dispensing optician in 1999 having been trained by an independent group of practices in Bristol. She moved to Liverpool from South Wales in 2001 with her job and has been living on the Wirral for over 10 years.

After taking over the practice the team has grown considerably. There are usually two optometrists in each day and a very experienced team on the shop floor to help with all your eye care needs.

In 2023 the practice undertook an exciting refit and it was fully stripped out enabling a total reconfiguration of the space. The refit enabled an expansion to 3 consulting rooms, an initial exam room, a contact lens teach area, a private dispensing space and a stunning new shop floor and reception area.

The refit has totally transformed the practice and that’s been coupled with exciting new frame ranges that include Ray-Ban, Tom Ford and Oakley!

Oliver and Nicola now feel the practice reflects the Ball & Gatehouse ethos for quality eye care in a relaxed but modern environment.
